Aims & Ethos

01

St. Brigid’s is a Catholic primary school and its ethos and philosophies are based on a belief in God and in the life,
death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. The policies, practises and attitudes of the school are inspired by Gospel values.
Religious education is provided for the children and prayer is a feature of the school day. The pupils are prepared for
the reception of the sacraments of Penance, First Holy Communion and Confirmation.

Each child is equal in the eyes of God.  Here at St. Brigid’s this fundamental fact is at the core of our school ethos:

every child is equal in our eyes and we promote a policy of inclusion and integration which cherishes all our girls equally.

The aim of the school is to provide, in a safe, secure and caring environment, an education which will develop your

daughter’s full potential by:-

(a) Providing a wide and varied curriculum.

(b) Promoting respect for self, others, the environment, the community and our rich local heritage.

(c) Fostering self-esteem.

(d) Encouraging a spirit of friendliness, responsibility, co-operation and tolerance of others regardless of race,

      colour or religion.

At St. Brigid’s we recognise the role of parents as the first educators of their children and we try to facilitate that role

by encouraging active participation of you –the parents –in your children’s school life.

The staff of St. Brigid’s is totally committed to effective teaching in all areas and to support those who are experiencing

difficulties.  We are a very professional group and prepare, present and execute lessons at the highest possible standard.

As a staff we aspire to provide opportunities for fostering good leadership qualities in staff and pupils

Our school recognises the importance of a harmonious partnership of parents, teachers and management who work

as a friendly, co-operative team for the benefit of the entire school community. Ní neart go cur le chéile.
